At Valley of the Moon, we know Kindness is the Real Magic. We are looking for Enchanted Chefs who want to donate their time, skill and ingredients to support Valley of the Moon and to compete for the heady designation of making the best plant-based local food.

How does the taste off work?
The event is a fundraiser for Valley of the Moon. Chefs will prepare their best plant based dish. Audience members buy a pass, taste the samples and vote on the most successful entries. In addition to the best over all dish, for each category with sufficient entries a category winner will be awarded.
Can the Chefs bring their own equipment, helpers, etc.?
Absolutely! This is a bring your own event. Valley of the Moon will provide electricity, paper plates, napkins, trash cans, volunteers to help with the audience, and encouragement.
Can I prepare food in my restaurant and bring it to Valley of the Moon?
This is not necessarily a cooking demonstration, You may prepare food and bring it to Valley of the Moon as long as you comply with safe food handling safe/serv standards.
What does the Enchanted Chef win?
The chef voted as having the best overall dish receives a display award and bragging rights that they are the best plant-based chef in Tucson. Additionally, The Enchanted Chef will receive acknowledgement on Valley of the Moon's website, Facebook page and on-site. The Enchanted Chef will be given a lifetime membership to Valley of the Moon. Category winners receive certificates and
Even if a chef doesn't get the coveted Enchanted Chef designation this year, all our generous chefs win our appreciation, respect and admiration for generously participating in this fundraiser event. All participants will be acknowledged in writing for their in-kind donation to Valley of the Moon.
Are home cooks permitted to compete?
This competition is exclusively for professional chefs with appropriate food handler's certification.
How many people will attend?
This is the First Annual Taste of Kindness competition. Our goal is to have 200 tasters.
How is this event connected with Beyond?
Valley of the Moon is proud to be a long-time participant in Beyond's annual January event. We are offering the Taste of Kindness cook-off during Beyond's annual event since it fits so well with Beyond's goals of nourish, explore and connect.
